Hoops: Crandall Pirates & Lady Pirates Earn All-District Honors

CRANDALL – Senior power forward Virgil Myers bagged the District 12-4A Most Valuable Player award and senior center Mike Miller was named first team all-district for the second time as the Crandall Pirates reaped the rewards of winning a district title and advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

Junior point guard Doneric Rivers garnered Defensive MVP honors for Coach Stan Short’s squad which won 23 games and posted a 10-2 mark in district action.

Senior shooting guard Clay Patterson – a second team selection a year ago – earned first team accolades, while shooting guard Colten Joyner was named second team all-district.

LADY PIRATES EARN ALL-DISTRICT AWARDS

Senior Sammy Rodriguez was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year in District 12-4A as the Crandall Lady Pirates finished the season 14-10 (7-4) and lost to Princeton in the bi-district playoffs.

Senior Caitlyn Benson and junior Alex Bowman were both selected first team all-district, while senior Blayne Ballard and sophomore Kemaya Linton captured second team honors.
