Seagoville Dragons visits Granbury; Crandall Pirates hosting Kaufman

SEAGOVILLE – The Seagoville Dragons will be on the road Friday night to battle the Granbury Pirates in a non-district football matchup at Pirates Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

The Dragons (1-0) opened the 2018 season on a winning note last week with a hard-fought 28-25 victory against the Wyatt Chapparals. Seagoville allowed 399 yards through the air, but capitalized on five turnovers to earn the win.

Charles James paced the Dragons with 142 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries. Kameron Hoard carried the rock 11 times for 61 yards and a score. Seagoville picked up 294 yards on the ground and finished with 332 total yards.

Granbury (0-1) dropped a 23-20 decision to Weatherford to start the season. The Pirates offense tallied 248 yards with a balanced attack that featured 132 yards in the air and 116 rushing yards.

Receiver Zachary McCreight paced Granbury with four catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

CRANDALL PIRATES HOSTING KAUFMAN LIONS

The Crandall Pirates will be hosting the Kaufman Lions Friday night in a non-district contest. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Pirate Stadium.

Crandall (1-0) used a collection of big plays to knock off Chapel Hill, 40-20, on the road last week. The Pirates racked up 432 total yards, including a ground attack that churned out 358 yards.

Senior running back DonEric Rivers picked up 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries, while another senior, quarterback Josh Redding, tossed two scores and broke loose on a 54-yard touchdown scamper. Junior receiver Billy Myers took a punt 40 yards to paydirt to help the Pirates cruise to the season-opening win.

Kaufman (1-0) opened the 2018 campaign with a 52-22 victory over Lindale. The Lions notched 532 yards of total offense with 245 passing yards and 287 yards on the ground.
